They're jewelry because they're about form, not function and they're made

primarily for visual appeal and to announce, "Look at my status!" Most guys don't care about design, so it's usually not about an appreciation of form, either. I mean, how many guys care about the design of other things, i.e. silverware, couches... clothing?

If it were about telling-time, the wearer would sport a Timex-type of piece (unless one is a diver or astronaut...). Nothing wrong with wearing body adornment that is metallic; it is jewelry, though. Primitive men also wore adornment. Anyhow, these watches certainly are impractical. One has to be careful about it: how many things in a house are easier to steal, pawn, or for a thief to surreptitiously walk away with? And wearing it on a bike trip? Right, $10,000 on your wrist, shattered in a fall. Or just worn doing regular stuff and the crystal gets scraped...
