"a bit sensational"
I guess that depends on how much you know about ongoing ivermectin research regarding its use in Covid-19 and your perspective.
"CT [ish]"No offense intended [ :-) ], but other than to possibly be needlessly cryptic, I have no idea what that means and I'm sure that I'm not the only one.
Like the NIH reference you posted states, it was "Last Updated: August 27, 2020" where it states "The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel recommends against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19, except in a clinical trial (AIII)."The updated NIH COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Statement on Ivermectin, (last updated January 14, 2021) (link below) states
"The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) has determined that currently there are insufficient data to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.
...
In general, the drug is well tolerated. It is currently being evaluated as a potential treatment for COVID-19.
...
Ivermectin demonstrates potential anti-inflammatory properties in some in vitro studies,8,9 properties which have been postulated to be beneficial in the treatment of COVID-19.10
...
Because of these limitations, the Panel cannot draw definitive conclusions about the clinical efficacy or safety of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19."Clinical trials continue to be ongoing.
I'm guessing that you didn't see my comment to Dave_K that I posted on January 28, 2021 at 19:46:19.
