San Francisco Spiders

Posted by Luminator on July 16, 2017 at 12:07:58:

Here's something different. For one season, 1995-96, San Francisco had an IHL team, the Spiders. Their home games were played out at the Cow Palace. Since tickets were affordable, you'd go with a bunch of friends (in that neighborhood, you gotta use the buddy system!), and have a good time.

The mascot was named Spinner, but really, it was the jock jams, which got the fans going. In one game, the Spiders were down like 3 goals in the 3rd, totally out of it. When Reel 2 Real's "I Like To Move It" played, my then-gf, ACS, stood up, and started bouncing. Good fun, indeed! Alas, a couple minutes later, the other team scored, and that was that.

I went home (my parents' place), and discovered that I still have this gray SF Spiders shirt, which ACS got for me for my 22nd birthday. I never washed or wore it, so I guess we can call it NOS, LOL!
