Thanks. Now that I'm thinkin' on this... Isn't the bull outside the Merrill Lynch headquarters?
The whole "bull/bear" thingy has been around in the finance world since the beginning of time. There's even a reversible "sock puppet" (I know someone who has one) which is a bull on one side and a bear on the other. "Bullish" represents a positive trend or outlook for the markets (aka a "bull market"), and "bearish" represents a negative trend or outlook (aka a "bear market").
I prefer my own animal analogy: The fox. It watches, it's cunning. It has a good sense of when to get in, and when to get out, whether the markets are generally bullish, or generally bearish.
I don't really care if a member of a Board is male, female, or uncertain. I just want them to make good decisions. But the whole idea of a company (a "Wall Street" company of all things!) to make a political statement with this statue is just plain stupid.
