Chipmunks ....

Posted by reelsmith. on April 19, 2012 at 19:39:34:

I was working in the yard tonight when all of a sudden two young chipmunks started following me. One of them came right up to me and climbed on my shoe !

I didn't want to lead them too far away from their nest, so when the little guy got off I ran to the garage ...and so did they !

So, now I had two baby chipmunks in the garage and needed to figure out how to get them out ...but first I got the camera because there was no way anyone was going to believe this story.

When I got back in the garage the chipmunks were nowhere to be found. Great. So, I just stood still and waited for them to come out of hiding. Eventually they walked right up to me. I grabbed a broom and put it down in front of them. They climbed aboard, I picked up the broom and brought them back out to the yard.

I could hear the mother in the stone wall and she sounded none too happy. So I reached the end of the broom as close to the wall where I could hear the mother as I could, gently shook the little guys off and headed back to the house ...and they followed me ! They hopped right on my shoes and were coming along !

These guys were really cute ...and either incredibly confused, brazen, friendly, stupid or a combination of all.
