you guys...

Posted by JeffreyJ on March 26, 2005 at 10:10:45:

left out the room and music listened to...

in my room.. which is tiny... power supply is everything.. a one watt amp with a 70 pound power supply sounds huge... a 3 watter with a wimpy supply sounds way smaller... 108dB horns listened to from less than two meters... and triamped and therefore no passive crossover mess to eat power and resolution and music... it does Mahler and Sabbath and Critters Buggin' way louder than I want without compression...

your boy Josh builds real amps.. I'm sure his smaller ones do big... how hard does he run those 75TL's? probably around ten watts out, I'd guess.. so that is quite a few dB above a one watter.. but Terry's amps are 3 watts, right? I'm sure that they would sing at my place...

but as you rightly pointed out, Dave, I have to finish up that big breadboard and listen to some 212's and 852's and T-200's and GM70's and of course 75T:'s... 90% of the parts are in the closet and I think I can see a clearing ahead...

and for you Terry, yep, wood horns.. triamped.. I am thinking Cogent instead of Ale, for bandwidth reasons... let me know when you have that CNC down pat and I am coming to camp out on your shop floor for a while.. we'll convert you to front horns done right.. they *can* have that big, open Terry Cain sound.. you just haven't heard it yet from any other front horns than those mighty Azuras.. we will compression drive you into madness... (big evil grin)...

Peace,
Me
