Re: Avantgarde Duo(!) and Solo(?)

IMHO, the Solos are nice but I would go for the Unos if I could swing the $$$ and space.

I own the Unos and have heard the Solos (at shows) and Duos (Shows and dealers). Although I heard the Solos in very poor conditions (Hifi show and with a solid state preamp) I would say the the Unos and Duos are closer in sound while the Solos share similar characteristics but do not exhibhit the dynamic range or transparency of the larfer siblings. Overall I liked the Solos and am sure they would sound better with a good tube preamp. Being a big tube fan my main concern would be not being able to use a nice SET amp with the Solos. Just my two cents.

BTW, the distributor for Avantgarde in Taiwan demoed all the speakers with 200W solid state gear (ie Burmester and Ristek) - what's the deal with that?
