I checked it out (in the Sony store on a whim a few days ago- know thy enemy, right?hehehe...), and was really surprised at the sound quality.
As per usual, the speakers are the real limiting factor (and on ALL HTIB systems I've seen, IMHO), but you can always start the upgrade process at that end eventually.
