No answer, but I'd be interested to know what you end up with. Sounds like they have an older analog stereo setup, "modernized" with a DAC for digital audio signals. Been there, often very frustrating, eventually it beat me down. I would guess monoprice might have something that would work here, if anybody does, but it would have a DAC in it already, probably good enough for TV audio.

[This would not work at all for *me*, as I am hugely affected by lip sync, even a small amount, and you will definitely have that putting TV audio into a regular stereo DAC. It can get pretty bad, far beyond my minimal tolerance.]
