Luckily one of our local thrifts plastic bags sundries: cables, remotes etc..

After 3 years without a remote (channel select functions) for our '90's Sony Trinitron CRT, I stumbled across the right remote ($3) having researched the compatable models. "Cracked" the case, cleaned it up INSIDE (gentle but thorough contact membrane sticky build up removal), and voila!

Matter of luck, but determination improved the odds.
