clipping?

The original system was run on a predecessor of the DSP A-1 with less power to each channel without any problem.
The problem occurs even though no source component is on, and the volume is low. I had originally thoght that it might be clipping, but I think it's probably something else. Any suggestions as to what other things I might check?
