I have owned different Lexicon audio processors over the years and now have the MC-1. I would have to say you should go and IN PERSON take a close look at both units. The MC-1 could indeed use balanced outs but as far as music goes it does just fine, IMHO. I have never used Theta, not because I don't care for them, but have never been to a dealer to have a actual demonstration or view the unit. At one time I was actually looking at an EAD unit, but the dealer really wasn't satisfied when doing the one on one comparision.
I do use the internal digital and it does very well on PCM,Dolby Digital and DTS. The video is greatly improved as compared to the DC-1 and DC-2. Hope this helps.carl
