low profile ht speakers

i'm looking for replacements to my current Paradigm fronts/center/rears that are more suited to a room where every inch counts. i've had these for a long time and haven't kept up with speaker design at all. could spend up to about $1500 for all of it, front center rears. i'll probably keep my sub, but if there is a recommendation for that i'd like to hear it as well. and of course it wouldn't hurt if the fronts were decent for music. i'd almost like flat panels, but i haven't heard any in a long time and wouldn't know what to expect from them in sound quality. receiver is about a 6 year old marantz, don't remember the model off hand.
