Re: Problem with standard TV reception

Posted by Jeff Connell on March 18, 2006 at 15:31:04:

Some channels, those with best reception, have squiggly diagonal lines, with some upward scrolling, and mostly with snow. Other channels are pretty much snow, possibly with some scrolling. Still other channels are just a blank gray screen. Audio is mostly noise.

Me, I haven't a clue. But the fact that once in a while I get reception, but not randomly, only at first, makes me think it isn't loose connections. Once reception is gone it never comes back, unless everything is turned off for several days.

What is the ground loop?

Last summer, the guys who came to install the receiver for my wireless internet said that they couldn't get it to ground. I didn't really understand but it seened like they were saying ground around the house carried a charge or something. I have no problems with the internet though.

Thanks for thinking about this.
