Video camera died - what to replace with?

Posted by rwalton on January 28, 2003 at 19:37:20:

Hello All,

Well, after 11 good years, my trusty Sony TR-81 Hi-8 camera finally bought the farm. I haven't thought about, or looked into what the current state of the art is, or what's the best deal going these days with video cameras. So, here are some questions:

1. Is there a good website that has a forum for discussion about camcorders that you'd recomment? I've been reading at the AVS forum but they don't have an area for this sort of thing (as far as I can tell).

2. Should I assume the thing to get is a DV camera? Any suggested models?

I'd appreciate any thoughts/suggestions/help etc. TIA!

Rick
