Well, you can do it through the video in on certain video cards or tv tuner cards; I have my dvd player hooked up this way.
I also know that an old co-worker of mine bought some sort of composite video --> vga converter that was like $250 and provided a great video signal! I think it was some small company in California that was producing them.
