if her subs only input are speaker connectors, are you sure the subwoofer is active and not passive? if it is passive and you are using a line-level LFE channel feed from the amp...you ain't gonna get any sound!

If the sub is passive i would use a separate amp for the sub or split the signal coming to the front speakers with a filter and send one split to the speaker and the other to the sub.....don't forget to set the receiver to 'NO' subwoofer is you decide to split the speaker level connections to the sub instead of using a separate amp.
