The advances have come in higher DSD resolution...

Posted by John Elison on February 17, 2020 at 14:32:06:

SACD is limited to DSD64. However, I've found DSD128 and DSD256 sound better than DSD64. Consequently, I buy the higher resolution DSD recordings and use a DAC capable of playing native DSD. I ripped all my SACDs to DSD64 so I can play everything from my hard drive using JRiver streaming software. I have a Mytek Brooklyn Bridge DAC and I also have two different FiiO portable DSD players.
