There are usually differences in levels even on hybrid discs, not to mention separate standalone CD & SACD releases. They are generally due to the different mastering of the tracks, and in the vast majority of cases, the CD is louder. And there is little Sony can really do in the player to influence the relative levels of SACD and CD - it's mostly going to be up to the DAC because the output stages are going to provide the same gain regardless of what the source material is.
