Re: It also demonstrates that there is nothing inherently compromised about the CD sections of SACD players...

"...if the playback quality can be raised to equal or exceed that of CD-only machines that retail for much more than I paid for my player AND mods, merely by replacing some parts."

Merely by replacing some parts?

That's a very big MERELY Methos, especially when considering how many parts are replaced and the same applies to standalone CD players anyway - replace a few parts and they perform better than more expensive players even when the price of the mods are calculated in.

Replace the diesel engine in my van with a turbo-charged petrol and it'll compete with vans costing much more. Doesn't mean the current engine in the bloody thing couldn't pull you out of bed as it is though. :0)

"I believe it likely that you paid considerably MORE for your digital source than I did."

Dunno - I paid £3,425 for transport and DAC but save on money on every single CD purchased compared to SACD, only of course I can buy what I want and am able to buy many used CDs which are even cheaper.

Now 'fes up how much your player + mods cost.... :0)

Best Regards,
Chris redmond.
