When played through SACD players, SACD will always (not withstanding the Krell) sound better than decent CD reordings, because you're comparing that player's CD playback against it's SACD playback.

In every case when SACD players are modified the CD performance is improved far more than the SACD playback.

To compare XRCD with SACD it would be more relevent to compare a dedicated CD player against an SACD player at the same price-point IMO, although to be honest I'm not such a great fan of XRCD in the first place.
