Why am I so into "Turn on the Bright Lights?" (musings)

On the surface it's a return to Joy Division. But, it's more than that I think, - as of course, - it's not even close to being as good. (For me, Joy Division, goes beyond music, and to even call them a "band" is somehow diminishing them. More like a pure embodiment of Kafka; outside the paradigm that we'd normally characterize as merely "music").

I'm hearing Psychedelic Furs in Interpol, but not the sarcastic whining.

I was in my local shop, and they were playing the Replacements remasters and the Furs too. I bought them both, the Replacements were incredible. The Furs redo was ARFUL.... Very sibilant and tizzy; seems like it went super hot to tape. One of the few CDs that I found completel unlistenable...

Just for one moment, I heard somebody call,
Looked beyond the day in hand, theres nothing there at all
