RE: Sennheiser HD 650 need advise !

Posted by PAR on April 5, 2021 at 16:32:11:

The answer depends upon what you use to drive them. The Sennheiser HD6xx range are 300 ohm headphones. That high impedance cannot be driven by some headphone amplifiers.

My advice is to hold off on your purchase and meanwhile tell us what you have to drive the headphones.

However if you don't want your family to hear you then you need closed not open headphones in any case. Open means just that, the sound from the outside world entering the headphone and the sound from the headphone entering the outside world are broadly similar. So the HD 6xx range are not suitable for your purposes in any case.
