RE: Do any of you own FiiO earphones?

Posted by John Elison on February 28, 2021 at 21:52:53:

Thanks for the DUNU recommendation. I'd not heard of DUNU. Actually, I'm new to the field of IEM earphones so I probably haven't heard of a lot of them other than the standard companies like Sony, Sennheiser, Grado, etc.

I read the review of the DUNU SA6 that costs $550. I wasn't all that impressed with the review, but I guess I'd probably need to buy a pair and listen for myself. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen because I've already spent over $1000 on FiiO earphones and I'm really pleased with FiiO's new single dynamic driver models, the EM5 and the FD5. Both of these cost only $300 each and they really impress me. They're the best sounding earphones I've ever heard -- better than my Koss ESP/950 electrostatic headphones.

What FiiO model earphones do you own?

You mentioned that you liked the cable on the DUNU better than FiiO. The cable on the FiiO EM5 and FD5 looks pretty similar to the pictures of the DUNU cable. The FiiO cable is silver plated coper litz wire and comes with three interchangeable plugs, the 3.5-mm unbalanced and the 2.5-mm and 4.4-mm balanced. I use the 4.4-mm balanced.

The FiiO FD5 is my favorite so far. It's machined out of staneless steel, so it's pretty rugged. I just bought a second pair to use with my Bluetooth adapter. Check out the link below for a complete description with pictures.

Thanks again!
