Modifying the Fostex F50RP planarl

Posted by hal55 on July 28, 2018 at 17:23:41:

Can get these for $199 australian and tempted, and have read that pad changes such as Shure and Dekoni can improve and modify the sound. I'm after a warm and basically flat frequency response well suited to strings, piano, light classical and vocals. The Fostex are way cheaper than the other likely candidate, Hifiman 400i, although I would probably be happy with stock 400i and not need to muck about with pad and tweek changes. Opinions much appreciated on overall sound quality and whether pad changes improve it as much as I've read.
