I think if power cords made a difference old Harry Olson would've known. While developing things like improved radios, radio production and broadcasting, movie sound systems, electronic television, color electronic television and such the guys at RCA labs probably got the power cord and speaker wire thing down.

It took the entrance of drug addled, self centered and delusional Baby Boomers to the hobby to make possible the market for stuff like fancy speaker wires, power cords, wire lifters and such.
