But there are two less expensive models - the K/D and K/Lx and a more expensive version called the K/SPx at around $12,000

I don't know the prices of the lower models - the K/Lx is identical to the K/Spe except it is copper wire with their top copper cable(used in speakers anyway). The K/D is only available in Black and is not full Russian Birch so I would look at the K/Lx. If planning a full AN system then the Spe.

Anyone interested in AN should go to this thread over at Steve Hoffman's forum because you can PM dealers regarding price. They also know customers looking to trade up - that's how I got my AN K/SPe because the owner was ordering a J/SEC Silver $20k and needed to sell his K. I traded him some cash and my KEF LS-50s.
