I heard two inter-related stories about that.
One, that the US importer Veekhtor Gold-shteen had hot-rodded the power supplies to make the review amps "sound better."
Two, that some sort of trouble was inevitable anyway, in that Jadis had laid out the top panel of the amps with inadequate space between the tubes, and they heated each other into overdrive.
