"...Electronica, EDM, opera, classic rock, 50s rock-n-roll, large ochestral works-esp Mahler, anything baroque, anything not featuring a female vocalist, anything featuring pipe organ and esp silent era theatre organ, post 60s Jazz...shall I continue?"
You've made several interesting points here and previously. I'll take them one at a time, so that some people won't be tempted (or confused) to lump them all together and subsequently dismiss me as a quack, fuddy-duddy, or worse... experienced.
Deaf: I'm only deaf parttime, such as when my wife reminds me to take out the trash. Inexperienced listener: If you read my inmate profile, you'll see that I did sound for a rock band for a while. However, the constant parade of hot chicks hitting on me just got to be too much. Just as well, since I quit while I could still selectively turn my deafness on and off (see point #1). With regard to being a musician: All I can say is that I'm glad my inlaws let me marry their daughter anyway. They still might not be entirely comfortable with that, however.
Now, on to musical tastes. Opera - please, make it stop! Mahler - wake me up when it's over. Electronica - I don't listen to it, but I could write that shit all day long. When you say "classic rock", I hope you don't include The Who, The Guess Who, Steve Miller Band, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Robert Palmer, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top. 'Cause if you are, them's fightin' words.
Oh, and, I still say one of the sexiest songs ever recorded is Bette Midler's "Do You Want To Dance?".
Oh, and, one more thing: Belden Rules! ;)
:)
