Rather than a high pitch, I got a low rumble sound like some kind of motor. Annoyed the shit outta me. But it turned out to be related to chronic sinus problems.

I was prescribed Nasonex, which I used for over a year, stopped for 6 months then had to go back to it for another 6 months when that rumble started again. Now I just use AYR Sinus/Allergy spray every night - its just a saline solution. Guess overall I was hearing the rumble inconsistently for over a year. Very rarely have a problem now, and if I do it recedes quickly.

I presume you've been to an ENT.
