In the early 1980s I moved up from the disappointing (i.e., too sterile) Adcom GFP-1 preamp and Hafler DH-200 power amp. The Acoustic Research AR9 loudspeakers and my ears were finally happy after discovering the sonic realism of great tube gear. Thank you, George Bischoff, for introducing me to vacuum tubes that make beautiful music.

I still have the speakers and preamp.
