I doubt this will count ...

I had been listening to a JVC compact with a BSR changer on top (with a ceramic cartridge) throughout high school and in my freshman year in college bought a H/K 330c receiver, Pioneer PL-12DII turntable with Audio Technica AT13ea cartridge and a pair of Genesis Physics Model One speakers.

That was in 1976. I never again experienced as dramatic an improvement. It was an absolute revelation.

Audiophile ...bah !
