RE: Demo Records

Posted by davidandcandy@gmail.com on August 6, 2015 at 17:01:48:

Another demo memory flashback: Our local hi-fi shop that I frequented & purchased from here in Newport News (Va.), Sound Approach, held a Mac clinic one evening. How cool to have Gordon Gow demonstrating the latest from Mcintosh. The album he played was Joan Baez "Diamonds & Rust". From that day on, even til now, it frequently graces my TT. After the demo, I spoke to Mr.Gow and asked him why Mcintosh didn't make a TT (the demo equip. was: Mac amp/preamp/tuner, Mac spkrs-which were the first column of tweeters accompanied by a separate sub that I had ever seen, and a Thorens (i think) TT). His answer was "well, when we can make one as good as this one, we will, but until then, it doesn't make sense to make one just as good but not better". Worked for me.
