Review of the Monster SW200 Surge Protecter

Posted by Fairbanks on September 3, 2006 at 18:59:00:

I'm writing a review of this product as I've found it's a great alternative to those overpriced two outlet power condtioners/surge protection devices.Since I needed a two out surge protecter for my Cambridge audio 640c and my Creek 21se headphone amp I found the Monster to live up to the billing. To demonstrate this I attached an Audioquest NRG-2 power cord running from the cd player into the surge preotecter and right away noticed tighter bass and instruments sounding rounder and fuller. After about 100 hours the cord settled in and I was in awe at the difference it made.In short it transformed my Cambridge to a higher level getting the best performance from an already great cd player.Later I was able to remove the ferrite noise stopper off the cord and Bingo it opened up even more, smooth as silk.As for the headphone amp power source it's doing it's job there as well as theres no interference of any sort. For $28 you get Monster's stage 1 cleaning power, which I found more than sufficient, as well as a high joule rating.I must buy for those of you just needing two outlets.
