well, you could try this...
Ask a quartet to play you some stuff, with you in front, blindfolded.
you'll somehow realise that suddenly you become more aware of the visual cues (not that you start to ignore the auditory ones of course). Kinda fun to do that :)
Similiarly in an audio system. We can't physically see the musicians, and for those who seek 'accurate sound reproduction', they may be subconsciously 'imagining' the musicians in front of them, from the perspective of the audience or the music conductor.
