parts cost

Posted by chiggy on May 22, 2001 at 14:20:25:

Hello -

check out the link below. it will give you an idea about potential opamp chips, the transformer used and even the passive components.

general rundown of my "gainclone" - (don't remember exact amounts but this should suffice)

power supply - dual mono construction
plitron transformers on sale - $44
rectifier from mouser - $3
4700 uf nichicon power supply cap - $10

stepped attenuators - $6 for switches + $10 for holco resistors

circuit -
heatsink - $2
lm3875 chip - $10 for the pair; lm1875 - $5 (apparantly, no one round these parts knows the actual chip used in the gaincard. after trying out several, i can say they sound similar - experiment for fun!
various resistors and caps - $10 (at most)

input and power switches - $6
binding posts, input jacks - $10

total - $111 w/o shipping and w/o case. to pick up a really decent metal case made of all aluminum would cost about $80. to get one for the power supply as well, another $80.

keep in mind these prices are probably cheaper for 47 labs as they will get steeper discounts then the diyer.
