You find them every once in a while, a prince among beggers, a profit among thieves. The amp, speaker, CD player or what have you that come from a less than stellar pedigree, but exhibit qualities far beyond their sibling rivals. Maybe it's a fluke, or maybe it's a brilliant engineer assigned to work on a single product. Who knows? But what we're left with is a product that's sounds too good to be true. When we tell our friends, they snicker and make snide remarks behind our back. How can anyone get a decent thing-a-jig for less than a GODzillion dollars? Better still, is when this diamond in the rough can be substantially improved with a little DIY tweaking. Let's hear your candidates for the "BETTER THAN THEY OUGHT TO BE" awards...
