REVIEW: Pioneer DV-333 w/Dan Wright mods DVD Players Review by Kevin_O at Audio Asylum

Posted by Kevin_O on January 19, 2001 at 20:02:18:

I also got my Pioneer DV-333 player modify by Dan Wright.
He upgraded the whole power supply by changing the PS rectifiers to Harris
Freds and upgrading key capacitors to larger Panasonic FC caps and bypassing the main PS cap with a pair of Solen Poly Caps to greatly reduce noice and boost bass response.
Changed input and out coupling caps with Black Gates.
Remove many parts in the analog stage that mess up the sound, including most analog signal stage resistors and replace output resistores with 50ohm Vishay's
Upgrade the op=amps to state of the art LM6172 op-amps
Damped the transport and lid of the unit.

Overall the sound is as least as good as a 1000 cd player. The sound is very warm that is sounds as good as a record player. The bass is like adding a subwoofer. The midrange sounds very liquid like and the highs very smooth
