Sicario 1 was a linear mystery, and one of the best I've seen.

The plan was steadily revealed to the end. We didn't know Benny's identity or role until it was nearly completed, building up to it. The director kept us focused on and identified with Blunt, the clueless fall gal.

I haven't seen this one, but the secret is out of the bag at the start -- we go in knowing who he is. No more secret motive, so the impact of this film would have to be generated some other way. Benny is a tour de force; one of the best.
