One of my favorites not mentioned very much is "The Heiress" 1949. On the cusp of the 50's directed by the great William Wyler with Olivia de Havilland, Montgomery Clift and Ralph Richardson. "...-about a young naive woman who falls in love with a handsome young man, despite the objections of her emotionally abusive father who suspects the man of being a fortune hunter...-"
I watch it every few years to remind myself how great movies can be (used to be?)...
