A gem. Twilight, the 1998 neo-noir, with Neumann, Hackman, Garner, others.

This is on tap with the Movieplex group on cable, not to be confused with the 2008-ish neo-vampire flicks.
The noir part of this film is down, almost out, sad, and existential, as these typically are. But its in color, which separates it from older noir films. The soundtrack is noir all the way; very nostalgic and moody. It also features Susan Sarandon, Reese Witherspoon as a teen, and Liev Schreiber, who now has his own tv series, Donovan.
Neuman is a former cop and private eye, with professional and personal failings that make him the tragic figure, and his friend Garner fills the same mold. Neuman is befriended by successful actor Hackman and his wife, Sarandon, who apparently keep him around for amusement and as errand boy. Some of those errands lead to Neuman piecing together a murder, and pulling loose ends until the unraveling reaches conclusion.
One reviewer called it a "mechanical" script. I call it classical. The performances are top drawer. The title could mean several things. The main actors are well on in years, and they are at the top of their craft, especially Neuman. If you like noir, seek this one out. Free on Comcast.
