The basic storyline of "Othello" transposed into an American private school in the South.

Although it did not work perfectly -- the cascade of killings that characterizes the final act of all of Shakespeare's tragedies seems somehow less believable transposed to modern times -- in one sense it worked very well: the intensity of late adolescent emotions and the lack of feeling for the long-term consequences of acts drove the plot very well.

An interesting film and not your usual adolescent summer fare.
