'Ambulance': Most action I've seen in years . . .

Posted by Billy Wonka on April 11, 2022 at 19:41:12:

Nobody does mindless action, death, and destruction like Michael Bay. Where Besson tries to go "artsy" Bay goes for straight action measured in twisted metal and quarts of blood. This film is the perfect example.

Danny (Gyllenhaal) enlists his "returned from the ME" brother, Will ( Abdul-Mateen) to ride along for a kick errand for a few bucks. Turns out to be a major bank in Central LA. It doesn't take long for the affair to go sideways and during the hail of bullets, they grab an ambulance that gets the call.

The ambulance crew has a smoking hot EMT in Cam (Gonzales) and their noob driver. Once in the ambulance, Danny loses his marbles and is a royal locked and load galoot. Even Will gets enough of him.

Only Bay could figure a way to drag this out over two hours. There were a few acorns of humor buried within this blood sausage and a nod to diversity. There is something for everyone.

Not a family film but a great popcorn guzzler. If you like action with consequences this is your current film.
