'The Green Knight': Arthurian Noir

Yes, dark, dark, dark throughout the entire film. I needed a service animal by the end but shuffled mindlessly like the rest of the audience.
What this film lacked is clean, bright sunlight it also lacked in the dialog. Not a lot of oration which wasn't missed anyway. The overall visual delivery was gob-smacking in its art direction and composition. It was indeed a beautiful movie that scarcely matched the gloom of the story being presented. This was GOT gone to hell. It was not actually of King Arthur as noted in the beginning. Dev Patel was Gawain a son of the King who was given a task/challenge designed to make him grow.
Gawain's travel tested him with clever thieves, ghosts, a Lord and Lady who took him in, and a herd of giants passing by.
This film was a lot to take in. It reminded me of Greenaway by its devotion to pallet, detail, and editing.
I liked it and will see it again on the big canvas.
