Boston Audio Society meeting Sun. 11/15 - IZotope tools for audio analysis, repair, and mastering

Posted by Laoye on November 12, 2015 at 04:36:41:

Date: Sunday, November 15, 2015
Time: 6:00 PM
Place: Boston University, Life Science & Engineering Bldg, 24 Cummington Mall, 1st Floor Conference Room 103, Boston, MA 02215

Featured Guest: Bradford Swanson, Product Manager, iZotope
Topic: IZotope tools for audio analysis, repair, and mastering

IZotope's innovative products inspire and enable people to be creative. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, iZotope has spent over a decade developing award-winning products and audio technologies for professionals and hobbyists alike. Bradford will talk about their history, contemporary goals, and product focus. He will demonstrate iZotope's RX 5 Audio Editor, an award-winning audio repair and noise reduction software. The software is designed to fix problems in production audio files like plosives, microphone bumps, and inconsistent levels. He will use and fix recordings some supplied by BAS members, by removing the extraneous noises encountered during their 'live' recording sessions.
He will also demonstrate additional software products: Insight, and Ozone 7. Insight contains an extensive set of audio analysis and metering tools that are perfect for troubleshooting mix problems. Ozone 7 is a mastering tool designed to produce a professional and full polished sound by adding 'glue' to a mix by controlling dynamic range, and adding a deep, rich character to the sound.

Driving Directions
Parking is no longer allowed in the block in front of our meeting place (temp parking for unloading/loading is OK). There is a gap in the BU buildings on Commonwealth Ave. so you can walk through directly to the meeting location. At Boston University, Cummington Mall is an east-West Street just south of Commonwealth Ave. It is one-way going west. From Storrow Drive going east, take the first BU exit. At the stop sign turn right on Commonwealth Ave (a left is not permitted). Bear left and at the 3rd light take a u-turn, go half a mile and turn right on Blandford (at a traffic light) and turn right on Cummington Mall. The entrance is on your left, number 24.
Parking: is free on Sundays and available on Commonwealth Ave. and Beacon St. (take a hard right at Kendall Square and park on the bridge and take the stairs down) and Bay State Rd (parallel to Commonwealth Ave next to the river)

MBTA Green line - Exit at Kenmore Square or the next stop, Blandford St. & Commonwealth Ave. Walk a short distance and make a left turn onto Blandford and right onto Cummington Mall.
