Which is an iphone and afaik it doesn't support LDAC anyhow.

Correct.
iPhone supports SBC (mandatory) and AAC.
On a iSomething AAC might rival LDAC as it uses the psychoacoustic model to its full extend while LDAC is most of all a side band codec.
