DAC's w/ volume control & multiple inputs, $6k max

Posted by wynne on March 6, 2005 at 12:42:56:

Hello everyone, hope all is well.

I am looking for an outboard DAC w/ volume control, multiple inputs (dvd/cd coax, cable box optical, etc.) and a remote control. Maximum budget is $6k. Current system consists of JmLab Electa BE 907's, Arcam FMJ A32, Arcam FMJ CD33, Arcam DIVA DV89, Arcam DIVA Tuner, TARA Labs power conditioner and cables.

My goal is to sell my Arcam FMJ amp and cd player and to replace them with a DAC w/ volume control so i can run straight to my amp; which will be a Sim Audio P5 LE. The only source that isnt digital is my Arcam tuner which I dont have a good solution for but i am willing to live without it. I plan to use my Arcam DV89 DVD player as my transport for now, unless you guys think thats a bad idea.

Please let me know what your opinions are and what DAC's you can recommend that are in my price range. Thanks!
