Oh, have you taken a poll? Why is the Vinyl Asylum so much busier than the digital forums here? Why does the current Music Direct catalog display 23 pages of vinyl hardware (and 5 pages of digital)? Why is Warner Brothers contemplating future releases on DVD and vinyl, but not CD? Why do the anti-vinyl points you cite not resonate among the "competent vinyl guys"?

And finally, can we assume that by "competent," you mean the ones who abandon vinyl ... and then a while later wish they hadn't?
