Look buddy, I'm doing my part.

Over this summer while getting a complete dental makeover, I left two copies of TAS and three copies of Stereophile in the waiting room. I had somehow managed to read them at least twice during this process.

While I mourn somewhat for the demise of Good Guys, they did it to themselves. I bought my Parasound stuff through them. Geeze, I have spent a small fortune at their stores. They used to have some pretty nice items to choose from, but they never had very good sales people. In fact, they were snotty without any reason to be snotty. (There is a B&O sales location in Vegas I wish the same fate on.)

Circuit City is hurting as well, yet an upstart superstore mini-chain like Fry's is growing rapidly. Why might that be? Fry's does not have very knowledgeable staff, but there is someone to help you at every turn. That, plus their prices are reasonable. Every SACD you can imagine for under $15.

I've written about this before in this forum, so I won't repeat myself. But put it this way: If I can buy the Moen bathroom faucets I want on-line for under $50 each (genuine brass), why should I go spend $125 or more for the same thing at the local home improvement center?
