for the Flavors 1, 2, and 3First, I would like to say that I have benefited from all the comments and reviews from the folks on this site. Everyone’s experience has helped me in my decision-making when I go shopping for components. So, I thought I'd take the time comment on the VH Audio Flavor 1, 3, and 4 Power Cords. Because run time on the PCs is only about 50 hours, this post is just my initial impression of these products in my particular system.
I installed these well made PCs on my CD player, processor, both amps and sub over the last couple of weeks as replacements for the OEM cords. VH Audio's service is second to none and I received the cords in two working days UPS ground. With only 50 hours or so on them now, I can say that overall system dynamics have moved up a notch. Better transient response and precision showed up as solid control of bass with the amp PCs, while mids / highs have increased a bit in their smoothness (except for some graininess that disappeared after the first hour or two) from the Denon and AVM20 PCs. The differences are not huge, but definitely noticeable. For example, I have been backing the sub down over the last few days to where it is really not needed to supplement the mains on most music – the Paradigm 100s have more than enough controlled, clean low/mid bass now. A recalibration of the system is planned after more breakin.
I also installed the VH Audio Pulsar digital interconnect (separate review) which is a nice compliment to the PCs. The end product of the PC and interconnect installation is a more revealing sound that is not too forward, bright or shrill at listening (or at reference) levels. For my equipment, which does both Audio and HT duty, the overall audio presentation has improved. My impression so far is that the low and mid-bass ranges have gained control/authority while the mid/high ranges have increased a bit in clarity. Overall, these PCs have provided noticeable and worthwhile gains in my system's performance.
Next up is an installallation of a VH Audio cryo'd P&S outlet to go along with the dedicated 20 amp circuit I put in a while back.
